This morning, delays of up to four hours have been recorded for flights at Aeroparque and up to two hours for flights at Ezeiza, as a result of intense rain with electrical activity affecting the Metropolitan Area of Buenos Aires (AMBA). Despite this, both airports are currently operating normally, and it is expected that conditions will not worsen according to airport sources.
Delays began early in the morning, mainly due to low visibility and electrical activity that forced the suspension of ground assistance operations. At Aeroparque, the longest delays reached nearly four hours, affecting all flights between 7 AM and noon. Meanwhile, at Ezeiza, the most significant difficulties occurred in the morning, with some flights being diverted to alternative airports due to unfavorable landing conditions.
At Ministro Pistarini International Airport, delays mostly did not exceed two hours, with some exceptions. The forecast from the National Meteorological Service indicates that rain will continue throughout the afternoon but with less intensity. A temporary improvement is expected after 6 PM, so the delays from the morning are not anticipated to be repeated.
Despite this, delays are expected to impact afternoon flights due to the so-called "domino effect," which occurs when delays or cancellations of morning flights affect subsequent services.
